Quick Start: Copy PLD Layout from Company to Company Option 1: (Cut/Paste)

Here are the steps to copy a B1 PLD Layout from one Company database to another. Note: Because this process is completed by a simple Copy and Paste , you will need to have access to both Companies from the same computer.

Here are the steps.

  1. Logon to the B1 company you want to copy the Print Layout Designer (PLD) layout from.

  2. Navigate to the Report and Layout Manager. (Administration > Setup > General > Report and Layout Manager.

  3. Select the Print Layout Design (PLD) you want to copy. ( Ex: Banking > Outgoing Payments> Checks for Payment > Obeer_Check-Stub-Stub in the screen shot below) .

  4. Hit the Edit Button to open the PLD Editor.

  5. From the Edit menu choose Select All option

  6. Say Yes to the Select hidden fields ? prompt (We need all the fields in the PLD, even the ones that are hidden).

  7. Patience…. Give it a second or two to highlight all the fields in the Field Index and report.

  8. From the Edit menu choose the Copy option

  9. Close the PLD editor with the File, Exit menu option

  10. Select the Company we want to copy the PLD layout too. Go to, Administration > Choose Company to logon to that Company.

  11. Navigate to the Report and Layout Manager. (Administration > Setup > General > Report and Layout Manager) in that Company.

  12. Select the any Print Layout Design (PLD) layout under the same menu you you copied the PLD from ( Ex: Banking > Outgoing Payments> Checks for Payment . It can be any PLD layout as long as the Type is PLD and has the same page format of the PLD your copying. If your copying a modified version on the Check PLD then choose the same format in your To Company.

  13. Hit the Edit Button to open the PLD Editor.

  14. From the Edit menu choose Select All option.

  15. Say Yes to the Select hidden fields ? prompt (We need all the fields in the PLD)

  16. From the Edit menu choose the Delete option.

  17. Choose the Yes to All button when prompted that dependencies exist between fields in the layout. It will delete all the fields from the layout and the Filed Index window on the right.

  18. From the Edit menu choose the Paste option.

  19. Choose the Yes button when prompted that original Unique IDs already exist in the destination report.

  20. Patience again …. Give it a second or two to paste all the fields into the Field Index and layout.

  21. From the Print Layout Manager menu choose Save As to begin saving the newly modified PLD you just created. In the Document Name field give the new layout a unique name. Example: Obeer_Check-Stub-Stub -Copied. If it is not unique, then you will be prompted to over write a layout, which you probably don’t want to do.

  22. From File menu choose Exit to close the PLD designer window.

  23. Hit the Refresh button on the Report and Layout Manager window.

  24. Scroll up/down and you should see your copied Saved As layout in the list with a Type of PLD.
