Quick Start: Copy Crystal Report (Layout or Report) from Company to Company

Here are the steps to copy a SAP Business One Crystal Report (Layout or Report) from one Company database to another. Note: Because this process exports the report definition(s) to a B1 Package file (*.b1px) you don’t have to have immediate access to the Copy To Company database.

Here are the steps.

  1. Logon to the Company (db) you want to copy the Crystal Report(s) from. You can copy 1 or more Crystal Reports in a single export run.

  2. Navigate to the Report and Layout Manager. (Administration > Setup > General > Report and Layout Manager.

  3. Hit the Export button at the bottom of the window.

  4. This launches the Report and Layout Export Wizard. Choose the Next button.

  5. From the Report and Layout Selection step, expand the folder(s) that contain the Crystal Report(s) that you want to export.

  6. Select the Check Box(es) of the Crystal Reports that you want to copy from this Company. Here you can select 1 or as many Crystal Reports from as many folders as you require. Then click the Next button.

  7. Enter the name of the package b1px file (in this example Exported Crystal Reports from Obeer Database). Select the ellipse button to choose a Folder Location where the Package file will be saved.

  8. Select the directory where you want the .b1px package file saved. Hit OK button.

  9. The directory you selected will now display in the Folder Location field. Hit the Finish button.

  10. When the Export package is created successfully, you will see the window below. Hit the Close button to end the Export wizard.

  11. Navigate to the Company you want to Import the Crystal Reports into. In this example we Select the Company we want to Copy To by selecting the Administration > Choose Company, to logon to that Company.

  12. Navigate to the Report and Layout Manager. (Administration > Setup > General > Report and Layout Manager. Hit the Import button.

  13. This launches the Report and Layout Import Wizard. Choose the Next button.

  14. From the File Selection step, choose the Browse button. .

  15. This will open the file explorer - open window. Here you will select the file where you saved the .b1px package file in the export steps above.

  16. Navigate to the directory where you saved the b1px file in the Export steps above, select the file, and hit the Open button.

  17. This returns you to the File Selection step of the wizard. Select the Next button to continue.

  18. This step opens the .b1px package file you selected and shows you a list of the Crystal Reports contained in the package. Select one, some or all of the files exported. Only those reports with a checkbox will be imported. With the reports selected hit the Finish button.

  19. The Import wizard finishes with the Import Summary window. The top half list all the successful imports and the bottom half list those reports where there was a problem with the import. Review, and hit the Close button to close the Import wizard.

  20. Using the Report and Layout Manager window, open the folder(s) where you imported the Crystal Report into. In this example; Sales A/R > Sales Order > Order (Item) and Sales A/R > Delivery > Delivery Note (Item) to confirm that the Crystal Report have been imported into this Company and these report folders

  21. Hit the OK button to close the Report and Layout Manager.
